Very nice and strong.
Technically the pictures were often point-and-shoot, pictures of what his eyes were round, with no filter between reality and film details given by shots or study, formal laying of the subject by focusing or exhibition. 90% of the photo was in color and as I understand it was taking on a slide with print Cibachrome : I do not understand much, but what he says in the "Benefit" is what interests me: the colors were amazing. Bright, contrasting, and filled with an excellent performance with flash (I think of the sad digital photos with the flash made entry-level machines, where we humans seem to all pale and dead). I think taken with SRL of normal, I think Nikon.
The subjects have a different humanity made by transvestites, gays, AIDS patients, children, friends, sex scenes, real affection, mothers, and all the simple folk with whom he probably spent most of his days. And these subjects are photographed as they are immediately, while a smoke wrapped in cigarette smoke, back when they dress, just wake up naked in bed after making love, while kissing, laughing while making faces .. natural and true.
the Beautiful Ballad of Sexual Dependency , a sequence of 45 minutes of his slides with music curated by Nan Goldin same. Many of the slides were the same show, but the order of presentation and the music made it all the more impressive.
